Young Harris College invites applicants for a full-time faculty member in Kinesiology that serves as Program Coordinator for the new Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. This is a 10-month full-time tenure-track faculty appointment. The successful candidate will serve as a dynamic and innovative educator with a strong commitment to teaching in an undergraduate liberal arts curriculum. Program visioning, strategic planning, and leadership through strong written and oral communications skills are essential. Finally, the ideal candidate will have experience fostering and facilitating research opportunities for undergraduate students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach both Fall and Spring semesters in undergraduate level courses for Kinesiology majors. Classes within the curriculum include: Introduction to Kinesiology, Personal Training Concepts, Care & Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Nutrition for Physical Performance, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Testing & Prescription, Motor Learning & Behavior, and Biomechanics of Sports.
  • Serve as Program Coordinator for Bachelor of Science (BS) in Kinesiology, providing vision, direction, and administrative oversight on program development and effectiveness. These responsibilities come with an associated release for administrative duties.
  • Advising and mentorship for majors in the Kinesiology program.
  • Engagement in scholarship in candidate’s area of expertise with emphasis on fostering and facilitating undergraduate student research opportunities.
  • Institutional service through committee work

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field, Masters considered.
  • A commitment to teaching innovation and excellence at the college level.
  • Demonstrated success in program visioning, curriculum development, and assessment.
  • Evidence of scholarship and research relevant to undergraduate research opportunities and experiences.
